What past travelers say about our Papua New Guinea Expedition

Michael S.

Michael S.

Melbourne, Australia

"This expedition exceeded all expectations. As a photographer, I was in heaven with the cultural experiences, particularly the Huli Wigmen ceremonies and the Sepik River carvers. Our expedition leader, James, had incredible knowledge and connections with local communities that allowed for authentic interactions rather than staged tourist experiences. The lodges were comfortable despite the remote locations, and the small group size meant personalized attention. This was truly a once-in-a-lifetime experience."

"I've traveled extensively but Papua New Guinea was unlike anywhere else. The cultural immersion was profound - from learning about the Huli 'wig schools' to watching master carvers create spiritual objects, I gained insights into ways of life that have remained largely unchanged for centuries. Be prepared for some challenges with transportation and basic facilities in remote areas, but these are far outweighed by the extraordinary experiences. The Bird of Paradise sightings were a highlight for me, along with the warm welcome from village communities."

This tour is not for those seeking luxury, but if you want authentic cultural experiences and are willing to embrace some adventure, it's absolutely worth it. The highlights for us were the Sepik River villages and the spectacular tribal sing-sings.
